Burnout in Worksite Health Centers: What We Know, How to Measure It, and What to Do About It

The July First Monday Roundtable will present a discussion where participants will learn about how clinician burnout threatens workforce sustainability, quality of care, and patient experience across healthcare settings. While worksite health centers may offer unique advantages compared with traditional primary care practices, burnout remains a significant concern. This webinar will present findings from a recent mixed-methods study of clinician burnout in worksite health centers, discuss key drivers and protective factors identified by clinicians, and introduce the Mini Z as a practical tool for measuring burnout and workplace conditions.

Megan McHugh, PhD, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine

Megan McHugh, PhD, is a Professor in the Institute for Public Health and Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Director of Northwestern's Research Program on Manufacturing and Health. Her research focuses on improving the health and well-being of manufacturing workers and communities, evaluating innovative models of care delivery, and helping employers maximize the value of their health care spending. In addition to her research, Dr. McHugh is committed to training the next generation of health services researchers through her leadership of graduate education programs. She has published extensively in leading health services research and healthcare management journals and is dedicated to translating research into practical strategies that improve workforce well-being, organizational performance, and the quality of care.
